Artist's Description of The Altar
Purchase this painting
Simple geometric forms and semi-primary colors are used in a spatial interpretation of "sacrifice and redemption." The blood red colored slab represents an altar form with slashes of suffering on the surface. The "altar" juts back into blue space which is painted as a veil or cloth covering something beyond the viewer's sight. The whiteish, goldish cloth extending from the top edge of the canvas represents redemption, resurrection and has a subtle reference to Christ in the crucifix fold in the center of the cloth.
